1900-O Barber Quarter, Extremely Fine+, Very Scarce
A sharp Choice EF specimen of this tougher date, a bit underrated - Lawrence felt this was an R-4 in this grade range. I know I don't see many, as most better New Orleans Mint Dates available seem to be VF or below. Out of a very old East Coast collection, undoubtedly lightly cleaned a long time ago leaving Liberty's cheek a bit scruffy. The color seems normal now and it retains considerable luster, especially on the protected Reverse. This would likely still certify in a clean holder, as they tend to give such coins a "mulligan". Typical strike for the date, with slight weakness at the right-facing corner of the shield/wing and the claw holding the arrow bundle. The Obverse however is sharp. Struck from the new 1900 re-designed Hub. Discounted just a tick for the surfaces.
