(My apologies however I have lost the sold price for this coin) A nice AU+ coin from the first year of issue, with a number of interesting features. First and most noticeably are the two large die chips at the points of Liberty’s bust, as well as some die erosion around the date, signs of a failing die. This is also struck from the Type One Hub of 1892, with a portion of the middle serif of the “E” on the Reverse uncovered, a bit scarcer than the Type 2 Hub. Last is attractive old album toning on the Reverse, in a bright blue with purplish-red undertones. And that is on top of just being a nice circulated example … perfect as a Type coin with a little extra interest factor.
