1915 Barber Half Dollar, Choice Fine to Very Fine, Scarce Semi Key Date
A Semi Key Date despite being struck the last year of the series, with the second lowest mintage. Unlike many last-year coins, not a significant number were saved in better circulated grades, and this has always been difficult to locate in Fine and better, at least on the "Left Coast". While this meets the posted PCGS CoinFacts standard for a VF-20, you can argue that it is just a bit short by old school standards. It literally a case of “flip a coin”, as one day they would likely certify this as a 20, and the next a 15 (as F-18 is not longer in use, more’s the pity). This coin shows good color although it is likely that it was very lightly cleaned at one point - this would not prevent certification at PCGS or NGC in my experience however. Most dealers would certainly look at this coin as being "original", certainly in terms of the Barber Half series.
