1901-S Barber Half Dollar, Semi Key Date, Very Fine
Semi Key Date, Type Two Obverse hub, which Lawrence stated was about 3x as scarce as the Type One. I think that this might explain the very minor weakness in some of the design elements, compared to some Type One specimens I reviewed. I have seen similar coins certify at VF-25 to VF-35, depending upon the weather, phases of the moon, etc. I will simply say Very Fine+ and price it based upon my cost. Nice strong Reverse, better than an average VF-20/25 certainly. Old cleaning as usual, however it was light and the color has largely recovered. Not banged up or ugly like many examples (including quite a number in certified holders). This might or might not certify today, as the services have tightened up, but certainly suitable for a nice circulated set.
