Overton-106, a slightly better variety. An original looking coin with attractive color, although I would have to assume a light cleaning sometime in the late 19th Century, since 95%+ of all early Halves have been at one time or another. No hairlines or other obvious signs, just my assumption based on 30 years of experience. “Original enough” by the standards of the grading services, however in this case not worth submitting as there is a small “ding” in the Reverse to the left of the “O” in OF, which would probably (but not absolutely) result in a Details holder. This closely matches two PCGS VF-20’s that had good enough images of them that I could review. The mushy weakness at 1:00 on the Reverse is characteristic of the variety. Despite the Reverse ding still worthy, certainly as an attractive example to represent the Type. For reference, this is offered at Greysheet Wholesale for the VF-20 grade; normally an $800 coin.
