An original Brown Unc example of this better Philadelphia Mint date, which is somewhat underrated. A reasonably sized mintage, however only 1/3 of that of the preceding 1914 Philly production, and only 20% of that of 1916 seems to mean that these slipped through the cracks and was ignored as “just another P Mint”. Higher grade circulated examples have long been difficult to locate, especially on the West Coast. Uncirculated coins are similarly not common; the PCGS Population in Brown Unc is roughly the same for 1914 and 1915, likely due to the incentive to send in a coin which normally would not merit such attention. No significant marks and a considerable amount of the original orange red planchet color remains, especially on the Reverse. In my opinion, equivalent to what will normally certify MS-64BN.
