An attractive original BU coin with a tannish-orange surfaces with a slightly green undertone. This shows the wide variation in color possible with early Lincoln’s, with considerable differences between the three Mint’s products due to local sourcing of planchet stock. There was quite often differences in percentages of minor alloy components, with more or less tin, zinc, or contaminants such as manganese sometimes found in local copper sources. Relatively common as a date in Unc, as the “rarity” of the proceeding year’s San Francisco production led to more hoarding by the non-numismatic public.
