1927-S Standing Liberty Quarter, Choice Very Fine PCGS/CAC VF-30, Very Scarce
Choice Very Fine, certified PCGS/CAC VF-30. 174 at PCGS, approx. 80 at NGC. NGC shows 326 coins total in all VF grades, 20 to 35; as they do not break out these further, my estimate is based upon the percentage of VF-30's certified at PCGS versus all VF's total. Whatever. A date that is more likely to be submitted both for certification and CAC approval, due to its nature as a low mintage date with common striking issues. Currently CAC shows only 24 stickered, and Zero in their new CACG holder. Per their policy, this is guaranteed to cross over to the new holder at the same grade, which would make it a Pop 1 coin (August 2024). What I will say is that PCGS was more than a little bit tough on the grade as I have seen worse looking coins in holders up to EF. This retains some obvious luster in protected areas, with decent color and no damage, and should have come back at least VF-35. My opinion of course, but you can compare it to the typical 30 or 35 shown on PCGS CoinFacts. Frankly, typical pricing shown is just plain stupid, given how few decent mid grade specimens I come across, especially problem free. Between poor strike and typical numismatic abuse, few these days worthy of certification.
