1920-D Standing Liberty Quarter, Choice Uncirculated

1920-D Standing Liberty Quarter, Choice Uncirculated

$1,049.00

Currently in an ICG holder, certified MS-64. Despite the common view of many regarding trusting the grading of this brand, this coin is not only genuinely Uncirculated, but appears to be 100% original, otherwise I would certainly not spent the money to purchase it. Well struck with nice bold luster under soft pearl gray toning. Close to Full Head, missing Liberty's ear hole and a bit flat across her cheek, but with a complete shield edge, the shield about 95% fully struck overall with all rivets showing. No hairlines showing under the toning, which appears to be the fully natural, slightly hazy "old Silver" look of a coin that was just put away somewhere for a long time. This has not been "smoked", baked or artificially toned in any way in my professional opinion. As to price, given what some think of the "label" it is not offered at what an MS-64 of this date would normally command in a PCGS/NGC holder. I am positive it would cross at the MS-63 level at PCGS, or regrade at MS-63 at either PCGS or NGC (NGC not allowing ICG coins for crossover). Given the time and money necessary to deal with a single crossover/regrade, I have chosen to offer it here at what I feel is an appropriate price for the COIN, ignoring the holder. You are free to disagree, but someone out there should be willing to take a shot. If this coin were "conserved", it might even stand a chance at upgrading to MS-64 at PCGS/NGC, with the help of a tailwind perhaps.
