One of the top varieties for the Seated Half Dime series, and justly famous for being one of only three recognized overdates (the other being the two 1849’s), although there has been some dispute over this status in the past. Primarily identifiable by a bit of the bottom curve of the underlying digit at the base of the “1”, and the patch of effaced material to the left of the stand of that same numeral. As these coins are so small and difficult to image properly, the large image shown of the overdate feature is courtesy of PCGS CoinFacts and is of a higher grade specimen (not this coin). A very nice higher end circulated coin with attractive Obverse toning on the right hand side - I left one image of the coin prior to certification as it shows the color better. Lightly cleaned a long time ago, this has largely “healed” as far as color, and obviously PCGS had no problem with it. An interesting and popular variety.
