1917-D Mercury Dime, Uncirculated PCGS MS-62, Nice Color
1917-D Mercury Dime, Uncirculated PCGS MS-62, Nice Color
Absolutely stupidly priced in typical pricing “guides”. Consider that PCGS CoinFacts estimates a survival in BU grades of less than 700 examples, out of a Mintage of 9.4 Million. Unlike many certified Uncirculated specimens in the grade (not just this date but most others), this coin is truly “new” in my opinion, just showing some soft scuffs on Liberty’s face and in the Reverse fields. The light contact is largely obscured by attractive original color on the Obverse, the fields being mostly a yellow-gray with brighter rainbow shades as highlights. The Reverse is more like “old Silver” with some traces of brownish gray. In my experience color like this is a sign that the coin survived in a mixed lot of material put aside at random, owing its originality to being ignored, thankfully, as typically coins like this that enter the market are dipped to make them “shiny”.
