1895-O Barber Dime, Good+, PCGS Good-6
The famous early Key Date to the series, increasingly difficult to find even in lower grades. As a result, the grading services are easing their standards a bit and certifying coins with minor damage such as obvious scratches or rim nicks, and with weak rims on the Reverse (a common problem with this date) in Good-4 holders. This is an older cert probably from the mid-2000’s and the coin is certainly more sound and problem free than most you can find these days. Certified coins are also almost always priced above whatever retail price standard you choose to use, whether Greysheet “CPG” or PCGS Guide value. Certainly, I have a very difficult time purchasing coins from other dealers at “normal” wholesale levels as well, as they don’t want to let them go, knowing a retail sale is too easy. It is my impression that this coin would CAC if submitted (I know that it has not been previously tried based upon my source); this is based upon two coins recently sold in CACG holders that looked no different. As it is not a 100% sure chance, I will not ask a CAC price, today around $700, but I do want/need a slight premium based upon my cost.
