This is a nice, original example on a solid problem free planchet, never a given with this date.  Very even, slightly darker chocolate Brown, with few if any noticeable surface marks or distractions. There is a tiny bit of super light staining right above the "4" of the date if you look hard, otherwise nothing of note.  Oddly enough, despite the strong strike from fresh dies, there is a small die chip on the left hand wheat ear at 9:30, probably due to a problem with the die steel - hardly a distraction. Despite CAC not generally liking brown AU Cents, I feel based upon the quality this does have a shot at getting the “bean”, just not worth my time and money - priced in line with other non-CAC coins currently being offered (Dec. 2023).
