A solid mid grade example of this Semi Key date, with 3/4 horn showing. This is what “old school” grading would call a Choice Fine. Unfortunately, I have to bend to the current realities, which is that if submitted for grading this would normally certify at least a VF-20 at PCGS or NGC. The Obverse is actually VF - the Reverse as typical is weaker but it matches the current accepted standard. It does show a minor Obverse planchet flaw, most obvious next to the rim at 9:00, and a couple of partially hidden Reverse marks. As a result, my opinion is that it would have a less than 50% chance of certifying. Depends upon how bad they think the planchet flaw is - they tend to give 1920’s S Mint Buffalo’s a bit more of a “mulligan” than others in the series. The upshot is that I have listed this at what I believe is a suitable discount from what a certified VF would be listed at, as it is not worth submitting for me. Otherwise, this appears original and well struck over all. Definitely a tough coin to find, that should find a home with somebody at my mildly “discounted” price.
