A rare, original AU/Unc example of this tougher date. Very similar in overall “look” to the PCGS AU-55 1918-D Nickel also offered (if still available), as it should as it came from the same source, and likely the same original group. A soft yellow-gray color with the satiny luster noted for the date, the primary difference between the two coins is a better strike on the ‘19-D. Otherwise it is hard to detect any major difference between the two, which indicates that PCGS is (finally!) paying some attention to strike in assigning grades to this series. Otherwise, a very attractive original coin, one minor ding on the Natives upper lip is the only mark of note.
