(SOLD May, 2022 for $2200) An original BU example of this classic Key Date, which somewhat oddly enough is more easily found in Uncirculated grades than in the EF to Choice AU range, if more expensive naturally. Attractive light gray color with some reddish highlights. No contact marks of note, it does display a few very wispy “hairlines” typical of a coin that saw some light handling or moved around in a loose lot of coinage. There is a minor planchet flaw right at the spot where Liberty’s hairline meets the coronet. It was difficult to get a really good image of the coin due to the older “no prong” NGC holder - these tend to cause lighting problems for me, for some reason.
