1894-S Morgan Dollar, Almost Uncirculated, Scarce Semi Key Date
Formerly in an PCGS AU-58 certified holder - my opinion is that was pushing the grade and it would be today's AU-53 or 55. Attractive light yellow-gray surfaces with obvious luster, some soft overall scuffing appropriate for a coin that saw relatively light use in commerce. The surfaces appear original or largely so (who knows what might have happened 50-75 years ago); certainly this would re-certify today in a normal holder. This date commonly comes scruffy and PCGS/NGC will even certify coins that have been obviously cleaned, such is the nature of the demand for this tough Semi Key date. In this case I would say considerably more eye appeal than the typical example offered, especially on places like ebay. Guaranteed genuine, backed by our firm’s 80+ years in the business, plus all the industry “garden salad” (PCGS, CAC, NGC, ANACS, ANA, etc., etc.).
