1936-S Washington Quarter, Uncirculated, Better Date

1936-S Washington Quarter, Uncirculated, Better Date

$135.00

An original BU example of the first of the tougher San Francisco Mint Quarters produced in the span of 1936-39. The scarcity I think is due to the lower Mintages in those years combined with the economy heating up in 1938-39 as we ramped up to produce war material for the upcoming Pacific conflict. Far fewer coins were put aside and all of these dates are scarcer even in average circulated grades (other than maybe the ‘39-S). This coin is a no-doubt Unc, however shows enough light surface scuffs that it might limit a certified grade to MS-62 if submitted, by old school standards. However, I have found that better date coins often get a “Mulligan” from the main services, so MS-63 is not out of the question. Mox Nix, as I think this belongs back in an album, rather than being entombed in plastic.
