1918-S Choice Almost Uncirculated, AU-58, Nice Color and Luster
A nice high grade example of this Wartime date. This coin probably never actually saw any real circulation, or if so for an extremely short period of time, as it shows no real wear in the obvious problem area down Liberty's exposed right leg. However, it shows light signs of handling and a few light hairlines, as well as a "wiped" area across Liberty's body from the right arm down to the pedestal. This may be from a random thumbing, or it could be a very light counting wheel mark. Either way, this would almost certainly not certify in a "normal" holder, if they are doing their job correctly. It is however equivalent to what you will receive as an "Unc" from 90% plus of dealers, being numismatically equivalent to an MS-62 by market standards. Bright flashy luster and attractive light toning, this would fit nicely into any high grade AU/Unc set, for someone not worried about having a coin in "plastic". Despite the (very) minor problems, I think worthy of a decent premium as this is a truly nice looking coin - especially given the typical washed out/dipped out coins that most dealers sell as AU's or “Uncs”.
