This coin exceeds the PCGS CoinFacts visual grading guide posted online, which is somewhat neither here nor there, as I find they are a bit “generous” in their standard for circulated Barber coinage at times. However, if you compare it to numerous PCGS/NGC certified Fine-12 coins, there is no obvious difference - the back of this coin is in fact a Fine, even if at the lowest standard. I guess that I can’t figure out what CAC wants to see in a VG-10. This confirms my belief that the purchaser of a coin has to be the ultimate determiner of whether they agree with the level of preservation of a coin, and that the price is appropriate and acceptable to them. Letting someone else tell you what you should know yourself is fraught with peril, regardless of the alphabet soup on the label, however too many people today seem to want a “security blanket” to reinforce their decision making process.
