An attractive high grade circulated example of this tough date, better struck than most with full hair over Liberty’s brow and strong feather tips and Eagle’s claws. Lightly cleaned at some point in the long ago past, like seemingly 95% have been. Those that have not are almost always dark and unattractive, which is why previous generations of collectors and dealers stooped to dipping or otherwise abusing those relatively few specimens that survived (PCGS has certified only 100 coins from XF-45 to AU-58, in 30+ years). The old cleaning would not stop this coin from certifying based on any number of specimens I have observed or viewed on PCGS CoinFacts, and if submitted it would almost certainly certify AU-55 (perhaps AU53 on a bad day). Pretty much impossible to purchase on the Wholesale basis from any competent dealer at typical AU price levels, if the coin is in any way “shiny” or attractive. Priced based simply upon my cost - the viewer will have to decide if the coin warrants the asking price for themselves.
