1955 Lincoln Cent, Doubled Die, NGC/CAC MS-64BN
1955 Lincoln Cent, Doubled Die, NGC/CAC MS-64BN
(Sold on ebay August, 2019 for $3725 - the price shown for the listing is what I would have sold it for off my own site) The famous late 1950’s variety/error. I avoid Brown examples of this variety unless they are REALLY nice, and this coin fits the bill. Most "BN" coins are darker, commonly have problems and frankly are sometimes questionable as a true Uncirculated coin. Not a problem with this coin as it leaves no doubt - the CAC sticker is a welcome "second". I will note that CAC does not like most Lincolns certified Brown, and it takes a coin with "pop" to get the bean. This shows very pretty lustrous surfaces with pinkish-purple toning, and some remaining original Red around the rims. Unlike most Unc examples, this shows no signs of handling or fingerprints. One tiny spot is noted for accuracy - this appears to be stable and should not be an issue in future. If you have been looking for a pleasing example of this famous variety, this could be for you. Priced below the new (August, 2019) CDN CAC Market Review value.
