1912-D Liberty Nickel, Choice Original Coin, Nice Color
A well struck original example of the last year of the series, and the only such coin struck at Denver. You may notice that I have not assigned this coin a grade. It is my opinion that the coin was VERY briefly in circulation, just enough to pick up a few light hairlines and a tick or two on the edge. That does not mean that this would not pass as a low end Uncirculated if submitted for certification, likely an MS-62, as the question remains as to whether it has any detectable WEAR the way the grading services look at such things. However, as there is little price spread for this date between a high end AU and a low end Unc, I have simply priced it as a “nice coin” based upon my cost - and my absolute certainty that this would certify at least an AU-58 at PCGS.
