1908-S Indian Cent, Choice Uncirculated, Original
1908-S Indian Cent, Choice Uncirculated, Original
An original Brown Uncirculated example of the first U. S. Small Cent struck anywhere other than at Philadelphia. The coin that launched a million Whitman folders, and started the collecting/hoarding of any Cent, or for that matter any coin, with an “S” Mintmark! Nice glossy Brown surfaces with some traces of original straw gold planchet color, and a decent strike for a commonly mushy issue. It does show some minor “gunk” here and there stuck within the lettering and devices, typical of a coin put aside randomly by the general public - the real source of the vast majority of survivors. No significant or even largely noticeable marks, just a random tick or two here and there. It should not need be said, however guaranteed genuine of course. I think that I can also safely guarantee that this will certify at 63BN if submitted. A 64 is not out of the question, I simply chose not to bother to send it in, hoping someone would want a nice “album” copy. If authenticity or grade is a concern, please feel free to contact me directly.
