1883 Seated Liberty Half Dollar, Almost Uncirculated, RARE Low Mintage Date

$1,055.00

A key low mintage date, 8,000 struck, with one estimate of about 1,000 surviving. The low mintage was due to the Mint forces being tied up striking the vast quantities of un-needed Morgan Dollars required by the Bland-Allison Act. Just goes to prove that “pork barrel” legislation is one of the constancies of American political life. Almost Uncirculated, similar to perhaps 90% of all circulated survivors this was cleaned at some point in the past, albeit lightly. No obvious hairlines and it does not appear "scruffy", with relatively mark free surfaces and decent color. This has largely retoned and shows darker highlights at the rims, indicating many years spent in a coin album (coins tone slower after having been cleaned, so it was in a set for a long time). This stands a good chance at certifying in a "normal" holder today - priced based upon my estimation that this is "marketplace acceptable" to all but the most picky. Guaranteed genuine and to be a Business Strike, not a Proof.
