1869-S Liberty Seated Dime, F-102, Choice Uncirculated, PCGS MS-63

1869-S Liberty Seated Dime, F-102, Choice Uncirculated, PCGS MS-63

$1,265.00

F-102, Weak S, R-4.  No PCGS attributed coins above XF-45, although they certainly exist in un-attributed holders in Unc grades. A flashy, lustrous example of this date, one PCGS considers “readily available”. Considering an original mintage of 450,000, versus a suggested survival in all grades circ & Unc of perhaps 300 coins, I am not sure what they mean by “available”. 1860’s dated Dimes from San Francisco are certainly not everywhere, and I do not see many at all, let alone in this grade. Nine coins in the grade and only 21 better at PCGS for all varieties, as of September, 2021. Oddly enough, none of the 9 PCGS MS-63's have ever appeared at auction, and only one of the 6 MS-64's since 2005. Pricing wise, current CPG “retail” value of $1,150 in MS-62 and $1,310 in MS-63. The PCGS Price Guide says $1,500 in MS-63; difficult to tell where the numbers come from, as basically NO coins have traded recently, as far as I could determine. The last Heritage auction was of an NGC MS-63 in 2019, at just over $1,000. Ass this shows light, overall scuffing in the fields that move just a touch distracting to some, offered at a value closer to that of MS-62.
