Likely saved as a souvenir of the new Type, this coin actually bears an Uncirculated Reverse, while the Obverse shows a touch of wear as the result of a light, very old cleaning. While the color is natural and correct for the Type, the cleaning left some hairlines, although much of the luster is still present (all there on the Reverse). This is also a Repunched Date, Valentine-2 (Breen 3013). All the details are very sharp, so this was struck by a fresh set of unclashed dies. A shame about the cleaning, as otherwise it appears that the coin would have been an MS-63 or perhaps better. Still worthy as a sharp example of the Type, at a discounted price compared to how much detail it affords, and compared to the average AU coin, which is typically also cleaned and usually not as attractive.
