Finally, a correctly graded EF/AU ‘23-S Nickel from PCGS! None of the 2/3 Horn “EF” business with this coin. A full, well defined horn and the split in the tail shows - typical for the 1923-S, the hair detail on the Bison’s head is not razor sharp, but made up for by nice original color and visible remaining luster. Should easily CAC, and here is a classic example of the problem I have with CAC at present. The so-called “price guide” shows NO premium for a CAC stickered 1923-S below the grade of MS-62 - so I guess a somehow-just-squeeked-by commercial “VF” (of the 2/3 horn variety) is supposed to be worth the same as THIS coin? I will let the viewer make up their own mind …
