A decent high grade example of this better date, which appears original although it does display an Obverse scratch. Considerable luster remains for a Century-and-a-Half old Nickel, close to an AU grade. The staining on the Reverse is almost certainly due to finger contact long in the past - whoever this was likely had an acidic material on their finger. No corrosion, and this could be removed by cleaning the coin, horror of horrors. I also note a very stout die crack through the date, shortly to become a retained cud.
