A sharp high grade example of the last year of the series. Like almost all “last year” coinage, a date saved in relatively large numbers by the public as a souvenir. This appears to be such a coin and it is my opinion that it never saw any circulation. It does display some very light hairlines under the toning, suggesting mishandling or an extremely light “cleaning”, possibly just wiped with a cloth. The color/toning is typical of a long undisturbed coin and appropriate for the age. A technical AU-58+, this might certify as a low end Unc, with some luck and a blind eye or two from the grading staff. However, given the current service “standard” that is taking three months to get coins graded, not worth the difference to me, so offered as a “Super Slider”. Either way, an attractive example to represent the Type.
