1918-D Mercury Dime, Uncirculated, Full Split Bands, Rare Fully Struck Example

1918-D Mercury Dime, Uncirculated, Full Split Bands, Rare Fully Struck Example

$1,449.00

Certified PCGS/CAC MS-62FB. An original fully struck specimen of this better date, VERY scarce with this type of strike. Most survivors are mushy having been struck from worn, mismatched dies due to the pressing nature of wartime production. The heavy use of dies is highlighted by a die crack at the point of Liberty’s bust, a common problem location (image shown). The color is slightly uneven, due to the nature of having been saved randomly by a non-collector, and stored in typical non-numismatic fashion. However, luster is bold & evident, with no significant defects or horrible distractions, despite the slightly limited grade assigned. Currently, the only CAC approved MS-62FB example, out of a combined 29 at PCGS/NGC.
