The last of the Stars Obverse Dimes. Why San Francisco alone struck a Stars Obverse Dime in 1860 is unknown. Likely due to the more distant location of this Branch Mint, dies for the new coinage were sent Westward prior to the decision to substitution the Stars with the Motto Obverse Hub. A scarce low mintage issue, commonly noted as coming heavily bagmarked. This coin is an exception, although it does show a shallow scuff/scratch on the Obverse. This is largely made up for by the originality and attractive color. Low PCGS Pop of 5 in the grade, about 27 better.
