Fortin-101. An extremely limited Mintage of just 53,000 coins, due to the weight change that caused the addition of the Arrows at the date very soon after the turn of the year. Fewer still survive due to melting and export (PCGS CoinFacts suggests less than 1,000 in all grades), and this is the first example I have seen to purchase in a LONG time. No PCGS VF-30 example has sold at auction since 2016. Oddly enough, less popular overall than the With Arrows, which is a classic Type coin, which makes this coin more the province of the specialist and series collector. But if you need one, not too many opportunities available, and these are cheap compared to actual availability. It would make an interesting choice for a Type set, as this is not the usual type of date that gets chosen.
